Biographies
Kristen Tan, violin
Kristen Tan has been lead violin of Dolce Corde since 1993. She is a local music educator and private violin and viola instructor. Kristen performs as concertmaster with the Concord Chamber Orchestra and as a section violinist with the Waukesha Symphony Orchestra. She enjoys directing the Handbell Choir and Children's Choir at Forest Park Presbyterian Church as well. When she is not playing or teaching, Kristen is always busy with her husband and three children at their home in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
Cathy Peik, violin
Cathy Peik, the second violinist of the Dolce Corde String Quartet, has known and played in ensembles with the other members of the quartet since her college days. She has also been active with several local bluegrass bands over the past twenty years. Cathy enjoys teaching bluegrass fiddle and classical violin to students of all ages at her home studio in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, where she lives with her husband and son.
Kelly Kiel, viola
Kelly Kiel is the original violist of the Dolce Corde String Quartet. She was a member of the Racine Symphony Orchestra from 1992-2004 and occasionally plays with the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra and Waukesha Choral Union. After completing her elementary education degree from Carroll College, Kelly taught kindergarten for Milwaukee Public Schools for 4 years. In 2008, she earned her Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with the goal of designing playgrounds, parks and campsites. She is currently employed with the State of Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. Kelly resides in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her 2 year old daughter and enjoys running, triathlons, photography and travel.
Linda Tennies, cello
Linda Tennies is the original cellist of the Dolce Corde String Quartet. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and worked towards her Master's in Music Education at Indiana University-School of Music in Bloomington. She stays active directing local youth music groups, acting as adjudicator for local and state solo & ensemble and concert festivals and using her enthusiasm to motivate young musicians as a visiting clinician. She currently resides in Erin, Wisconsin with her husband, Dan, and their three boys, homeschooling and helping to run the family company, Tennies International.
